Bag Challenge Your quilt deserves a hand-made bag! Myrna Rosebrook challenged the members to make a fabric bag to transport their quilts (especially those being entered in the Quilt Show)
Presenters: Leann Clifford, Corrie Beyer Koopman Description: Participants randomly cut and placed small pieces of assorted fabric on the sticky surface of a prepared 8" muslin square with "Wonderunder" pressed on one side. When the square was completely covered with fabric pieces, they were pressed in place with a hot iron. Participants were encouraged to save this square for a "nine-patch" sampler quilt comprised of squares using techniques that will be introduced at upcoming the meetings. Alternately the "crazy quilt" patch can be used to decorate a bag (see the September Challenge. |

Kathy Tanner, from Harmony Hand Dyes in Tisdale provided an informative workshop on fabric dying methods, inspiring Guild members to explore the many possibilities for creating unique fabrics for their quilts. |

Arlyce and her team from Quilters' Haven gave a dazzling presentation on the infinite possibilities for turning fabric panels into beautiful quilts. Then Heather demonstrated how special rulers and new techniques can make constructing tumbling blocks and other complex designs much easier. |

Marjorie Moore from Moose Jaw provided a wonderful trunk show, starting with samples of her early quilting adventures, through to current works. The show had examples of her original designs and works inspired by a number of resources, including: Simple Graces: Charming Quilts and Companion Projects , by Kim Diehl; Intuitive Color & Design: Adventures in Art Quilting, by Jean Wells; and Stellar Quilts by Judy Martin. |
