Current Activities
Notes from the March 2, 2010 meeting:
- Arylce from Quilter's Haven provided an informational workshop about quilting tools including:
- Guidelines for using different sizes of mats. Tip, turn over the mat and cut on the unmarked side to avoid confusion between the measurement markings on the mat and the ruler.
- Selecting and using different size rotary cutters.
- Use a slotted ruler for cutting strips of fabric.
- Choosing the right needle and thread for the job.
- Printing on fabric.
- A special belt for back support when sewing and ergonomic cushion for the sewing chair.
- New tools for opening and closing quilting safety pins.
- New products such as Texture Magic. You might be interested in this series of three videos about using Texture Magic: Part 1; Part 2; Part 3.
- "Bags for old bags"....Myrna asked members to bring their fabric bag to the April meeting.
- Myrna reminded members to wear their name tags at the meeting. Guild pins will be available for purchase at the next meeting.
- Themes for the coming months' block lottery and the fabric strip exchange:
