"Our Guild meets the first Tuesday of the month from September through June. We convene at 7:30 p.m. in the basement of the Whitmore Park United Church, at the corner of Grant Road and Durham Drive. "

 

HISTORY

The Prairie Piecemakers Quilters’ Guild is a young organization interested in preserving and promoting the art of quilting. The Guild was formed and incorporated in December 1991.

 

GOALS OF THE GUILD

  • To promote public awareness of the art of quilting
  • To encourage and promote higher standards of competence and appreciation of quilting through courses, workshops, research and competitions.
  • To preserve the heritage of quilting through promotion and education.
  • To foster fellowship among quilters.
  • To stimulate closer co-operation and co-ordination among other groups and individuals interested in quilting.

 

MEMBERSHIP

Guild membership consists of quilters of varying ages and abilities who share a great appreciation for the art of quilting and the fabric used to piece the quilts together.

The membership year runs from July 1 to June 30 of the following year. New members are welcome at any time during the quilting season.

Annual dues are $25.00

We are members of the Canadian Quilters’ Association.

 

ABOUT OUR GUILD

Some of the special events organized every year are the monthly charm square exchange; quilt challenges; "quilt till you wilt" days; quilt demonstrations; Friendship Quilts; Mystery Quilts; and a variety of workshops.

The Guild has a growing library which all members have access to. Books are on loan for a month.

Another benefit of being a member is the special discounts offered to all Guild members at various stores throughout the city.
